ở, tại and positional nouns

ở and tại express location

SUBJECT + ở/tại + PLACE; ở is common; tại is slightly more formal.

💬 Examples
Tôi ở Hà Nội.
I am in/live in Hanoi.
📝 ở + place = location/residence
Cuộc họp tại văn phòng.
The meeting is at the office.
📝 tại = at (formal/written)
Positional nouns specify exact location

trên (on/above), dưới (under), trong (inside), ngoài (outside).

giữa in the middle giữa phòng (in the middle of the room)
💬 Examples
Sách ở trên bàn.
The book is on the table.
📝 trên bàn = on the table
Chìa khóa trong túi.
The key is in the bag.
📝 trong túi = inside the bag
ở đâu asks about location; đến đâu asks destination

đâu = where; combined with ở or đến to specify type.

💬 Examples
Anh ở đâu?
Where are you? / Where do you live?
📝 ở + đâu = location question
Em đi đâu vậy?
Where are you going?
